Letter Writing for hormone and surgery readiness

While not required by law, some primary care providers require that an evaluation and letter from a licensed therapist accompany a person for whom they are going to administer hormones or for whom they will perform sexual reassignment surgery. The letter writing process typically involves a single appointment with a therapist who will check for understanding about the procedures and provide further information when requested with a confidential release. A letter is then written in collaboration with you. We are available to speak with the physician whenever it is deemed to be helpful after getting a signed release for your confidentiality. There is not a requirement for a prescribed amount of sessions. We will always welcome you into the therapeutic environment should you decide that is best for you in your life now or at a later time given availability.
